The Role of Textual Enhancement in Minimising Errors in Paragraph Writing

Abstract

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى معرفةدور قراءة النصوص التي ٲدخل عليها تعزيز نصي في التقليل من ٲخطاء المضمون واللغة في فقرات الطلبة. تضمنت الدراسة 126فقرة لتسع طلبة تم انتقاءهم بأخذ عينات طبقية. خلال فترة التجربة التي دامت 14أسبوعا عرضت على الطلبة نصوص معززة تعالج في كل مرة عنصرا من عناصر الكتابة. ٲظهرت النتائج نقصا طفيفا في الٲخطاء يمكن ٳيعازه لطبيعة الخطأ لا لمستوى الطلبة.الآثارالمترتبة على هذه النتائج هو أنالتعزيز النصي يمكنأن يسهل تعلم بعض جوانب الكتابة المتعلقة على وجه الخصوص بالجوانب التي تحكمها القواعد. .................................................................................................................................................................... L’objectif de cet article est de montrer le rôle de la Mise en Evidence Textuelle (MET), introduite à des passages de lecture, dans la minimisation des erreurs dans les paragraphes. L’étude concerne 126paragraphes écrits par neuf étudiants choisis par un échantillonnage stratifié. Durant les 14semaines de la période de 1' expérimentation,les participants ont été exposés à des textes comprenant des indices typographiques liés soit au contenu ou à la langue du paragraphe. Les résultats démontrent une légère baisse dans l’apparition des erreurs dans les productions des participants qui n’est pas associée aux niveaux des étudiants à la nature de l’erreur. L'implication de ces résultats est que la MET peut faciliter l'apprentissage de certains aspects de l'écriture liés en particulier aux aspects régis par des règles. ...................................................................................................................................................................... The current study aimed at investigating the role of reading typographically-enhanced texts in enhancing the students’ ability to minimise error occurrence in their paragraphs. Data in the study included 126paragraphs written by nine students selected using stratified sampling. During the 14-weeks treatment period, the participants were exposed to typographically-enhanced texts targeting features related either to paragraph content or accuracy. The findings demonstrated a slight reduction of error occurrence that was not associated to the students’ level, but to the nature of the target feature. The implication of these findings is that (Textual Enhancement) TE can facilitate the learning of some writing-related aspects, especially rule-governed features.
